Restaurant Fyr – Atmospheric and Close to the Beach

Perched at the water’s edge in Tylösand, with sweeping views of Tylön, lies Resturang Fyr, whose name is a tribute to the island’s iconic lighthouse.
Renowned for its award-winning team, premium ingredients, and open-fire cooking, Fyr is designed to offer a warm, vibrant atmosphere that reflects the natural beauty of its surroundings. Emelie Leijon, the creative mind behind Fyr’s interior, shares her insights on how the restaurant’s design harmonizes with its coastal environment.
Just as the restaurant’s name evokes its local setting, Emelie explains how the interiors are thoughtfully inspired by the landscape, seamlessly integrating natural elements and refined details.

“From the very beginning, we had a clear colour palette that we wanted to work with, both in the interior design, graphic profile, and visual communication. Green/turquoise and gold/brass were the two main colours and were meant to take the spotlight. The green/turquoise comes from the sea, and the gold/brass from the sun and beach, to bring warmth into the space. That’s why we had green/turquoise tiles in mind for our bathrooms and sand/brass accents in the details like the flush buttons, faucets, and so on.”

Faucets in the Sand brass tone, with matching details in the same colour, form a cohesive design motif throughout the restaurant. Depending on the space, the accent tone is combined with colours and surfaces that evoke various aspects of the beach environment. In the bar, the Steel Pro Sand faucet is set against a luminous, seashell-inspired terrazzo countertop. In the restroom, the coastal connection is enhanced with vibrant green tiles surrounding the built-in Steel Harmonized K2 Sand faucet.
“The goal has been to connect the entire design of the dining room, kitchen, and bar together with the restrooms and toilets as well,” says Emelie. “Everything, from the leather on the furniture, the tiles in the kitchen, the heat lamps in the kitchen, the faucets in the bar, the curtains in the dining room, the tea light holders on the tables, to the flush buttons in the toilets, ties together.”

The result is an interior that serves as an extension of the coastal environment. The brass details subtly echo the golden hues of the sunset over the sea, while the greenery mirrors the plant life of the surrounding dunes. The blue-green tiles and terrazzo in the bar reflect the colours of the sea and shore. As Emelie notes: “There’s a clear design thread that runs through every detail of the space.”
